Role and tasks of the programming manager

The programming manager is a key player in the development of audiovisual content. They select, plan and organize the broadcast of films, series or programs for a channel, platform or festival. Their mission is to create a coherent broadcast schedule that respects the editorial line and appeals to the target audience.

• Knowledge of national and international content markets
• A flair for editorial strategy and event programming
• Mastery of legal issues related to broadcasting rights
• Ability to negotiate with producers, distributors and broadcasters.

His professional interactions are manifold: he works with distributors to acquire rights, with producers to promote new works, and with marketing teams to promote the program to the public. At festivals, they also work with cultural organizers.

His importance in the production chain is decisive: he is the intermediary between creation and public reception. It is thanks to his choices that a work can find its audience and gain visibility.
