A true conductor, the production manager plans and organizes production, taking into account all parameters: financial, legal and logistical.
On films, the post-production manager determines a budget and then, after shooting, assembles a team adapted to the film's needs in terms of image and sound.
Role and missions of the Production Manager
The production manager is entrusted by the production company with the day-to-day running of the shoot, within the limits set by the budget. He or she defines personnel requirements, and negotiates all employment contracts and remunerations. Together with the director, he or she is responsible for the overall make-up of the film crew.
He is most often considered a delegate, or even a representative, of the production company, and is salaried by it.
