The producer oversees the commercial and financial aspects of the project, seeking the necessary financing and managing the allocated budget.
His mission also includes coordinating film crews and overseeing logistical aspects.
The Producer's role and missions
His job is above all to find new projects (original screenplays, adaptations of novels, plays, series or even remakes) and to set up the financing and infrastructure. In the traditional scheme of things, he's the one who sets up the initial expenses, hires the screenwriter to deliver the first drafts, then hires the director if he didn't originate the project.
He helps develop the film, from writing to distribution, and finds the funds to bring it to fruition. He oversees the entire venture, from first draft to release, and is often the holder of the exploitation rights.
