The script supervisor is one of the director's closest collaborators during the preparation and shooting of a feature film.
The script supervisor's responsibility is to ensure continuity throughout the shoot.
Scripte's role and missions
The script supervisor is responsible for the overall management of the film, from preparation to shooting. They work closely with the director and the various artistic departments.
The script supervisor helps coordinate the various departments to ensure overall consistency and fidelity to the filmmaker's instructions. During preparation, he/she gathers as much information as possible to give a report on the foreseeable duration of the film and the cutting of sequences.
During the shoot, he or she is responsible for ensuring consistent connections at all levels (lighting, set, make-up, actors, costumes). With the help of on-set reports, he or she must also keep track of which takes need to be used, developed or spliced together, in preparation for the editor's work.
