The sound editor is responsible for the selection of shooting rushes and sound recordings.
He assembles and tunes them to create a coherent, harmonious soundtrack, in accordance with the director's or stage manager's instructions.
Role and tasks of the sound editor
Once picture editing is complete, his role is to select the best sound takes and assemble them in synchronization with the picture. It should be noted that a soundtrack is made up of direct sounds, those of the actors, ambiences, background sounds and sound effects, which can be added during the post-production phase.
