The sound mixer is a sound arranger. He assembles recorded sounds and mixes them to obtain harmonious ensembles corresponding to the filmed action or the director's instructions.
Whether it's a live show, a studio recording or a conference, the mixer enables you to manage, shape and direct audio signals precisely and creatively.
Role and tasks of the mixer
The mixer, or sound engineer, is responsible for blending together the sounds created by the sound designer and those supplied by the sound engineer, to ensure coherence for the production. He or she must also ensure compliance with TV and cinema broadcast standards (such as 5.1 or ATMOS mixing), so that listening in all cinemas and on all media is identical and optimized. His artistic role is essential.
