Safy NEBBOU is responsible for half a dozen feature films, all projects in which he has never failed to take risks. After a diptych playing with vivid emotions, he surprised us with Alexandre DUMAS (played by a more Rabelaisian DEPARDIEU than ever) and... his ghostwriter. But it's his latest film, released last year, Dans les forêts de Sibérie (the film that was screened before the masterclass) that is undoubtedly the craziest. Relating the experience of Sylvain TESSON, who chose to live as a hermit for six months on the shores of Lake Baikal, the film, of rare beauty, posed major problems of shooting conditions which Safy NEBBOU was delighted to describe to us. He also talked about his collaboration with Ibrahim MAALOUF, for which the Lebanese trumpeter was awarded the César for Best Music last February.
