Mohamed HAMIDI at ESRA Thursdays - November 25, 2021

Film director, screenwriter and director Mohamed HAMIDI was the guest at ESRA's Jeudis de l'ESRA on November 25, at the Jean RENOIR amphitheater.

After attending the screening of Né Quelque Part, the students discussed with Mohamed HAMIDI his career path and what led him to cinema. A former economics teacher, he has always had an artistic bent and a desire to tell stories and write. By chance, one of his texts fell into the hands of Jamel DEBBOUZE, who was looking for writers at the time. Jamel DEBBOUZE invited him to work with him and rewrite characters for one of his shows.

Mohamed HAMIDI also talked about directing, working a lot on location scouting and set construction. He considers himself more of a narrator than a director. He's passionate about being in a set, telling a story and recreating scenes with actors. Having worked with the same co-writer on all 5 of his films, he never writes alone, and needs a period of maturation for his stories. Aside from film, he also directs and is artistic director of TV shows and the Marrakech du rire.
