Michael GABRION, series/tv literary director at Gaumont, spoke to DHEC students on Tuesday November 9.
A former journalist specializing in cinema, he talked to students about his career path. Michael GABRION is currently literary director for TV series at Gaumont, and producer of the series Arsène Lupin series broadcast on Netflix. He explained to the students the core of his business: finding and developing series projects that appeal not just to film buffs, but to the widest possible audience. These series projects are then sold to broadcasters; platforms or TV channels.
A big part of her job and that of her team is to read the projects they receive and provide feedback to the authors. This keeps them on the lookout for emerging authors. Meeting with broadcasters to get a feel for their needs, especially at festivals like SérieMania or Le Festival de la Rochelle, is also essential for understanding the market.
