ESRA Bretagne, in partnership with the TNB, is organizing a sound creation workshop.

February 2021

As part of the partnership established since 2018 with the TNB school -Théâtre National de Bretagne- the two schools are organizing a sound creation workshop this year entitled "the Radio Cadiot project" or "theater as a stage for the ear".

This research-creation workshop takes place at the TNB and is proposed by Karine LE BAIL and Laurent POITRENAUX, with the complicity of author Olivier CADIOT.

The eight students in ISTS 3's "audiovisual sound" and "musical sound" options will be working on four original texts commissioned from Olivier CADIOT. The aim is to undertake research work in the form of radio fiction, adopting a different methodology and using different sound recording processes.

The two schools have set up 4 student groups made up of actors from the TNB and eight future senior sound technicians fromESRA Bretagne in their 3rd year in the ISTS section. The students' work on sound direction, recording, editing, mixing and production is supervised by radio creation professionals, technicians and artists:

Karine LE BAIL: historian, CNRS researcher and radio producer (France Musique)
Daniel DESHAYS, sound engineer for film and theater, essayist and professor
Thomas GUILLAUD BATAILLE, author and producer for radio (France Culture, Le mouv' and Arte Radio)
Nicolas BECKER, noise engineer, sound designer and composer
Simon GARETTE, sound engineer at EHESS

Olivier CADIOT, author and translator
Emmanuelle LAFON, actress
Laurent POITRENAUX, actor and Ecole pedagogique manager

The equipment used is that of EHESS -Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales - Paris, ESRA Bretagne and TNB.
