On Thursday March 27, 2025, ESRA had the immense honor of welcoming Éric Ruf, actor, director, set designer and General Administrator of the Comédie-Française, to our ESRA Thursday meeting.
An emblematic figure of French theater, Éric Ruf shared with students his career as a complete and committed artist, from his early days on stage to his pivotal role at the helm of one of France's most prestigious cultural institutions. With generosity and sincerity, he revisited the key moments of his career, evoking the rigor of troupe work as much as the freedom of creation, the beauty of the classical repertoire as much as the contemporary challenges of the performing arts.
During this rich and inspiring exchange, he captivated the audience with his humanist vision of the dramatic arts, his artistic rigor and his deep attachment to transmission. The students were given the opportunity to ask questions, ranging from theatrical professions and bridges to cinema, to the challenges of directing, and the realities of managing a major cultural institution.
Many thanks to Éric Ruf for his presence, his availability and his words, which will echo in our minds for a long time to come...
