Daniel Cohen (ESRA 1998) invited to ESRA Thursday: screening of the film "Le Bonheur des uns..." and discussion with students

February 2026

ESRA Thursday recently welcomed director and screenwriter Daniel Cohen, an ESRA alumnus, for a special meeting with students. Students had the opportunity to watch his film Le Bonheur des uns before discussing his career, writing, and directing with him.

A highlight centered around the feature film

As part of ESRA Thursdays, students attended a screening of the feature film Le Bonheur des uns, a comedy directed by Daniel Cohen, which subtly explores friendships and the mechanisms of success.

The screening took place on campus, giving film, sound, and animation students the opportunity to analyze the film from both an artistic and technical perspective: directing actors, narrative structure, staging, pacing, and production.

A privileged exchange with Daniel Cohen

After the screening, Daniel Cohen shared his experience with the students during an interactive discussion. He revisited:

  • script development
  • directing actors
  • collaboration with producers
  • the challenges of staging a contemporary comedy
  • the realities of the filmmaking profession

The students were able to ask questions about career paths, the difficulties encountered when producing a feature film, and advice for young directors.

Daniel Cohen's visit was a highlight for the students, who benefited from his practical insights into the creation of a feature film. These exchanges help to fuel their artistic thinking and give them a better understanding of the demands of the film industry.
