On Thursday October 30, 2025, we were honored to welcome British screenwriter, director and playwright Christopher HAMPTON to ESRA Thursday.
A privileged exchange
Winner of two Oscars for best adapted screenplay(Les Liaisons dangereuses, The Father), he is recognized as one of the great masters of literary and film adaptation.
During the meeting, the author opened up with humor and sincerity about his career and the behind-the-scenes stories behind his most famous screenplays. He talked about his first writing experiences, the challenges of adapting literary works for film, and the unexpected moments he experienced on the set.
The students were able to discover the many facets of a demanding profession, where the balance between creativity and rigor is essential.
This meeting will undoubtedly go down as one of the highlights of this season's ESRA Thursdays, the regular gatherings that give students the chance to exchange views with emblematic professionals from the seventh art.
