A 2024 graduate of ESRA, Armand Foëx co-directed his first feature film, *Un grand raccourci*, with Clément Devilliers; the film was released in theaters on August 12.

A feature film debut at just 21 years old

A 2024 graduate of ESRA, Armand Foëx is taking the next step in his career as a filmmaker with the release of his first feature film, *Un grand raccourci*, which he co-directed with Clément Devilliers.

Released in theaters on August 12, the film was brought to life by two directors who are just 21 years old and a team with an average age of around 23. It’s a cinematic adventure driven by ambition, creativity, and a strong desire to make it happen.

While in France, directing a first feature film generally happens much later in one’s career, Armand Foëx and Clément Devilliers chose not to wait to bring their project to life.

A film made outside the traditional channels

"Un grand raccourci " also stands out for the way it was produced. The feature film was shot in rural Brittany, largely with the production company’s own funds and with very little public funding.

This decision led the team to develop its own work methods and to rely on available resources to see the project through to completion.

From organizing the shoot to producing the film, this approach demonstrates a genuine ability to adapt and a shared commitment: to turn an idea into a feature film for the big screen.

A young team driven by teamwork

Behind the project is a particularly young team. With an average age of around 23, technicians and creators have come together with a shared ambition and have put their skills to work on the film.

This collective aspect is at the heart of filmmaking. Making a feature film requires a combination of technical expertise, creativity, organizational skills, and the ability to find solutions to the challenges of production.

This philosophy is directly aligned with the values instilled in ESRA students throughout their training: mastering technical skills, knowing how to adapt, working as a team, and, above all, taking action.

From ESRA to Movie Theaters

Armand Foëx's career path illustrates the variety of possible career paths after training in the film and audiovisual industries.

Just two years after graduating from ESRA, the young director is seeing his first feature film reach audiences in theaters. This milestone marks the culmination of several years of work and an ambition he has held since the beginning of his career.

In *Un grand raccourci*, Armand Foëx and Clément Devilliers demonstrate that it is possible to forge your own path, bring a team together, and bring a project to life outside the confines of traditional production models.

ESRA extends its heartfelt congratulations to Armand Foëx, Clément Devilliers, and the entire film crew on this first theatrical release.
