For the last Thursday of Season 12, we're joined by a cinephile and unrepentant video game enthusiast: Christophe Gans.
We had the feeling that his preoccupations intimately met those of many students. Gans has only made four feature-length films, but he has always found an international audience, with his Pacte des loups topping 5 million admissions in France alone. Gans' universe is fantastic, but it is also the fruit of a rich imagination with very varied roots. The film presented in the Salle Renoir, Beauty and the Beast, obviously raised a lot of questions about the special effects. Gans replied that a film of this type is essentially made on green screen, and is prepared in much the same way as an animated film. The questions were particularly numerous: the evening's nearly two and a half hours were not enough to quench the curiosity of those present. Many questions were asked about the filmmaker's universe, his background, his cinephilia, his addiction to video games, but also about his ability to find extraordinary budgets to bring his projects to life. As if our man hadn't had more aborted projects than actual births. In the end, it was as if many of the students had met a big brother, in tune with their own cinematic desires. And Gans was particularly pleased with the evening, which ended very late at the restaurant...
