In a packed amphitheater, Thomas LANGMANN kicked off the new season of ESRA Thursdays.
He didn't go back over his interesting acting career. Nor did he talk much about his father Claude BERRI, except to confirm that he had adopted a number of his methods as a producer (notably when it comes to not cutting corners when making a film, because it's not what it costs that matters, but above all what it brings in).
On the other hand, he spoke at length about a number of his personal productions. Starting with "Mesrine"(L'Ennemi public n°1 and L'instinct de mort) of course, since this was the film that had been screened before his arrival. But The Artist, Astérix aux Jeux olympiques, Le Boulet and La Nouvelle guerre des boutons were also in the hot seat. With the exception of two or three nicely crafted quips, such as "My advice is never to listen to advice", there were no theoretical speeches, but plenty of anecdotes that spoke volumes about the day-to-day life of a top producer. Our guest made a point of answering all our questions, and we thank him for that, knowing that it would be a long night for him, as he is currently editing.
