ESRA was honored to welcome Sidonie Dumas, producer and general manager of Gaumont, at the ESRA Thursday event held last night, Thursday, October 9, 2025.
A rewarding evening
The evening began with a screening of the cult film La Folie des grandeurs by Gérard Oury, an iconic French comedy produced by Gaumont. Following the screening, Sidonie Dumas spoke to the students about her career, her experience at the head of the world's oldest film production company, and the current challenges facing the audiovisual industry.
Discussions also focused on the role of the producer in the creation of a film, changes in production methods, and the importance of preserving and promoting France's cinematographic heritage.
It was a privileged and inspiring moment for the students, who were able to talk to a major figure in French cinema and gain a better understanding of the realities of working for a major historic studio.
