Emmanuel MOURET came to ESRA after the screening of his eighth and latest feature, " Caprice" .
There's a common tone to most of his films: fantasy, lightness, poetry. The filmmaker is most often one of the performers, playing an eternal teenager in love, very awkward, in the tradition of burlesques or, closer to home, a TATI or a Pierre RICHARD.
MOURET talked about how he came to be an actor in his films, after directing a medium-length graduation film at the Fémis. Then, how he met Frédéric NIEDERMAYERwho remained his producer throughout his career. Of course, he talked about his approach to filmmaking, and tried to define his own personal universe. But the filmmaker also spoke at length about his influences, notably those of Woody ALLENfor whom he has boundless admiration.
