The film Méandre, by Mathieu TURI (ESRA 2008) starring Gaia WEISS and Peter FRANZEN, opens in cinemas this Wednesday, May 26.
ESRA alumni collaborated with Mathieu TURI (ESRA 2008) on Méandre; Vincent TOUBEL (ESRA 2002) first camera assistant, Valentin THIBAULT (ESRA 2017) first underwater camera assistant and Frédéric POIRIER (ESRA 2008) music composer.
During his studies at ESRA, Mathieu TURI (ESRA 2008) directed Autopsy, his graduation short film. On graduating, he became assistant director to Quentin TARANTINO on the film Inglourious Basterds. He was also assistant director to Guy RITCHIE on Sherlock Holmes: Jeu d'ombres, and to Luc BESSON on Lucy. The two short films he directed, Sons of Chaos in 2011 and Broken in 2013, won festival nominations.
In 2016, he wrote and directed his first feature-length horror film Hostile which won Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Director at FilmQuest 2017, Best Film and Best Fantastic Film in Europe at the 2017 Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival, and Best Film at the 2017 Hollywood Verge Films Awards.
His new feature film Méandre is a thriller in which a young woman wakes up in a tube full of death traps. In order not to die, she must constantly move forward...
