As part of the ISTS partnership with the TM+ Orchestra, based at the Maison de la Musique de Nanterre, and in collaboration withIRCAM (Institut de Recherche et de Coordination Acoustique/Musique), 3rd-year ISTS students attended a lecture by composer Jesper NORDIN at the Jean Renoir amphitheater on Tuesday.
The conference featured a demonstration of the Gestrument application developed by Jesper NORDIN.
Gestrument uses a motion sensor that lets you use your hands and body to create music via a Kinect device and MIDI interface.
Mr. NORDIN also explained his career path, which has taken him from rock to contemporary music without denying his roots in Swedish folk music.
The next step for the students will be a visit to the IRCAM facilities in April, followed by rehearsals leading up to a concert in June at the Maison de la Musique de Nanterre of Jesper NORDIN's work, accompanied by two other creations.
