Laurent DAILLAND at ESRA Thursdays

6 March 2014
Jeudisdelesra LaurentDAILLAND

Laurent DAILLAND is only the second cinematographer to attend the Jeudis de l'ESRA, after Gérard DE BATTISTA.

The least we can say is that those present were passionate. Many third-year Image option students, of course. Laurent DAILLAND spoke at length about the film that had just been screened - a screening he had attended - praising the technical quality of the work with Eric LARTIGAU, who was directing a dramatic film for the first time. He returned to the difficulties of shooting in faraway Montenegro, particularly with regard to the film's maritime sequence. He also touched on a number of other films, starting with those byAlain CHABAT, notably Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra and Sur la piste du Marsupilami, films packed with special effects, asking different questions. Overall, the session was highly technical, with students asking very precise questions about camera choices and even lenses, and the guest not hesitating to elaborate at length on particular cameras.
