As part of the Aventure d'un Long Métrage (ALM) program, DHEC (Département des Hautes Études Cinématographiques) students met Alex BEAUPAIN, author, composer, performer and composer of film music, on November 3.
Alex BEAUPAIN launched his musical career in 1998, composing soundtracks and songs for directors including Christophe HONORÉ and Thierry KLIFA. He has over 30 films to his credit, including several César nominations and the César for Best Music for Christophe HONORÉ's Les chansons d'Amour in 2008. Alongside his career as a film composer, he produced and released 9 albums between 2005 and 2021.
During a masterclass, Alex BEAUPAIN talked to students about his profession and his creative process, in particular for the soundtrack to Thierry KLIFA's film Les Rois de la Piste. When he composes music for a film, he is at the service of the director. He attaches great importance to the choice of films and directors with whom he collaborates.
L'Aventure d'un Long Métrage is a series of Masterclasses organized around a film, in which students from the DHEC - Département des Hautes Études Cinématographiques - Screenwriting/Directing and Production/Distribution departments host the main post-production supervisors and actors.

Synopsis:
Home cook Rachel, a sort of Ma Dalton, has raised her sons Sam and Jérémie, and grandson Nathan, in the cult of conning. From the most outrageous schemes to the smallest petty theft, this friendly family is always on the lookout for a big score. Chance or fate, during a burglary, they steal a painting by Tamara de Lempicka, without knowing its value. Céleste, a shrewd and charming detective, sets off in pursuit.
