On December 5, ESRA welcomed to its Jean RENOIR amphitheater the director Karin ALBOU (ESRA 1991) after the screening of her film "La petite Jérusalem released in 2005.
Karin ALBOU has clearly presented herself as a craftsman, who has never benefited from major resources, but who has traced her path without wavering, tackling all formats and genres: feature film, short film, TV, documentary.
She talked about how she got her start, her teaching at ESRA, and the necessity of short films to get noticed (even if they don't work for everyone). She also talked about her favorite themes: Jewishness, religious feelings and her Sephardic roots, themes that are central to her two feature films. She has shot a third, on a very low budget, which deals more with the male-female relationship, and is planning a fourth, which she hopes to shoot as soon as possible...
