Speaking on Thursday, February 15, 2018, Arnaud DESPLECHIN is undoubtedly a filmmaker who counts: most of his films have been shown at the biggest festivals, starting with Cannes, and they've collected several Césars.
The amphitheatre was not full, but the students present were delighted and no doubt honored by the visit of a great name in cinema. Questions focused more on the coherent work than on the form. Even if DESPLECHIN's cinema is anything but realistic, and his cutting, directing and acting are all worthy of careful analysis.
The film chosen by our guest was Three Memories of My Youthon the grounds that the students would be able to project themselves more easily into the characters than in other films. A bonus, no doubt, since the students present seemed to have a good grasp of our man's entire body of work. As a result, the questions came thick and fast, and Arnaud DESPLECHIN answered them with great passion, as it's clear that his love of cinema, actors and directing is coupled with an inexhaustible pleasure in passing on his knowledge. It was a wonderful evening, which ended late at the restaurant with some of the students...
