After Michel ALEXANDRE, Olivier DAZAT, Gilles TAURAND and Guillaume LAURANT, Jacques FIESCHI is the fifth scriptwriter to come to Les Jeudis in the space of eleven years!
All the more reason to press him with questions, which the students did. The film presented was A Heart in Winter by Claude SAUTET, and our guest obviously spoke at length about this filmmaker, with whom he worked on three occasions, covering the latter part of his work, a period more introspective and darker than those that preceded it. SAUTET was notoriously uncompromising when it came to the script, but as Jacques FIESCHI said, he didn't write. He told the story of the film, leaving the screenwriter to put it down on paper. If a screenplay is only a film in the making, our guest nonetheless grants it the quality of a work in its own right. He regrets that screenwriters are not more highly regarded and paid in France. Jacques FIESCHI also stepped behind the camera for a very free adaptation of SIMENON's "La Californie". La Californieand he intends to repeat the experience.
