September 15, 2014: European exchange at ESRA Bretagne

September 14 2014

As part of a European exchange organized by theOffice Franco-Allemand pour la Jeunesse (OFAJ), between September 8 and 12, 2014, ESRA Bretagne welcomed 4 German students from the "Folkwang Universität der Künste" and 4 Macedonian students from the"ESRA Skopje" around a film project.

The aim was twofold: to conceive and produce a 5-minute short fiction film on the theme of "Living one's identity", addressing the European idea of "unity in diversity", and to produce a 12-minute documentary/making-of.
After the conception and writing phase, which brought together students from the three countries in Essen, Germany (Folkwang University) in March, ESRA Bretagne welcomed the German and Macedonian students for the final phase, which involved shooting and post-production of the short film and documentary.
Four 3rd-year ESRA and ISTS students from ESRA Bretagne were responsible for the technical aspects of the production, including image and sound direction. The artistic side (actors, opera singers, costumes, make-up, etc.) was handled by the German and Macedonian students.
Representatives from each of the three schools involved supervised the project: M. rector Jordan PLEVNES and Mr. Vladimir STOJCEVSKI, from the University of Audiovisual Arts - ESRA Skopje, Mr. Brian MICHAELS, drama teacher at the "Folkwang Universität der Künste" (Essen) and Mr. Frank MORAWIETZ representing theOFAJ as well as Mr. Eric BONNOT and Mr. Alain BIENVENU, teacher and director of ESRA Bretagne.
Thanks to everyone's collaboration and hard work, the short film entitled "A crazy idea" was completed and screened in front of the whole team - in its English-language version - at the end of the week's work. The ESRA Skopje students plan to subtitle both the fiction and the documentary/making-of in French, German and Macedonian next month.
