Les Jeudis de l'ESRA welcomed director Michel LECLERC to the Jean Renoir amphitheater yesterday.
On the occasion of the ESRA "Jeudis de l'ESRA", Michel LECLERC spoke about his career as a film director to the students gathered yesterday at the Salle Jean Renoir.
Michel LECLERC has only directed four feature films, one of which will not be released until December 16. But that didn't stop the room from being packed, and the students from asking lots of questions. The Master Class lasted no less than two hours, and the exchanges were fruitful to say the least. Michel LECLERC is more of an author than a technician, and it was naturally more questions of writing that were asked. Le Nom des genswhich the students were delighted to see (and some of them have seen again), is a film as original in content as it is in form, because it deals with the question of roots in a comic tone without ever denying its purpose, and because it adopts an editing style apparently made up of odds and ends, which reveals a constant inventiveness. Michel LECLERC talks about his career and his collaboration with his partner, Baya KASMIwho is also his co-writer, and whose co-writer he is when she herself becomes a director (as she recently did with Je suis vous tout de suite).
Although the film has not yet been shown, a number of questions were asked about the director's latest film, The Very Private Life of Mr Simstarring Jean-Pierre BACRI in the title role, a depressive fantasy of great beauty.
